JobPort ("we", "us") runs this platform, which connects candidates and employers through a private, double opt-in introduction and matching process. We are the data controller for the personal data described below. This policy is written to meet UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
If you sign up as a candidate:your name, contact details (email, phone, location/country), visa and right-to-work status, salary expectations, work history, education, skills, certifications, references, a profile photo if you upload one, your notice period, and any "Necessary requirement" preferences (e.g. location, work mode, role type) you set. We also keep a record of interviews, feedback you give or receive, messages you send through the platform, and screener-task submissions.
If you sign up as an employer:your name, job title, contact details, your company's name, website and logo, the job postings you create, and messages/feedback you exchange with candidates through the platform.
We process this data because it's necessary to provide the service you signed up for (matching candidates to job postings, running interviews, tracking feedback deadlines), because you've given consent (e.g. the checkbox at signup, or optional profile fields), or because we have a legitimate interest in keeping the platform reliable and safe (e.g. tracking missed feedback deadlines to protect candidates from being left waiting).
We calculate a match score between candidates and job postings automatically, based on skills, salary, location, visa status, and experience, plus a separate pass/fail screen for any "Necessary" requirements either side sets. This scoring affects whether you appear in an employer's shortlist, or whether a job posting appears in your opportunities feed.
Under UK GDPR Article 22, you have the right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing where it produces a legal or similarly significant effect on you, and the right to obtain human review, express your point of view, and contest the decision. You can do this directly from any match's detail page using the "Ask about this decision" chat. It explains the real numbers behind your score and lets you submit a contest, which we log and follow up on by email.
Candidate profile data is only shared with an employer once you opt in to a specific opportunity (or an employer shortlists you). Nothing is public or searchable by default. We also share data with service providers who help us run the platform (e.g. our transactional email provider, to send you notifications), under contracts that require them to protect your data. We don't sell personal data.
We keep your data for as long as your account is active, plus a reasonable period afterward to resolve disputes, meet legal obligations, and maintain records of interview feedback and hiring decisions. You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time; see your rights below.
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
To exercise any of these, contact us using the details in section 9, or visit our Help page.
We use industry-standard measures (password hashing, access controls) to protect your data. This platform is intended for users aged 18 and over and is not directed at children.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to privacy@jobport.app. If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
